How do i buy these laptops?
These laptops can be purchased directly through Matthew Morling, on a first come, first serve basis by contacting us at matthew.morling@communityactionsuffolk.org.uk or by phone at 01473 345321 or you can complete the simple order form on the product page and we will be in touch.
Where will any availabile laptops be sold?
All available laptops will be published on this page https://suffolkonline.net/products/reconditioned-laptops/. In time we also hope to launch an Ebay page and we intend to expand this section into a full online shop where you can buy and pay online. Keep an eye on our X/Twitter feed too.
What operating system will be installed on the laptops?
If we are able to install Windows 11 on the laptop we will do but otherwise Windows 10 will be installed. Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 10 at the end of 2025 and nearer this time we may increase the minimum spec of donations to ensure they can be upgraded.
What will be installed on the laptops?
Each laptop will come with an activated Windows license and standard software that you might expect a new laptop will have i.e. an internet browser etc. There will be no “licensed” software like Microsoft Office or other applications installed – this is your responsibility to pay for and install.
What support do you provide with the laptop?
The laptops come with no specific support or warranty package. In line with standard consumer regulations we will allow a 14 day cooling off period which gives you time to change your mind about the purchase. Please note if you do change your mind about the purchase it will be your responsiblity to either drop off the laptop at our company address or to deliver the laptop, in it’s original condition, to the company address by courier or by another secure delivery method. If you are going to do either of these please arrange this with us so we can ensure someone will be here to collect the returned device. We will not be liable for any return costs.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery will take 3-5 working days from the time full payment has been received. We will work with a national courier company who will be responsible for all our deliveries to ensure these are delivered safely to your home.
Can individuals purchase these laptops?
The project is open to both individuals and organisations.
Are you accepting donations?
We are currently not accepting donations (as of September 2024), however in the coming weeks will be potentially looking to start accepting donations. We will publish more information about donations in this section. There will be a minimum specification of what donations we will accept.
Is there any plan to launch a laptop loan scheme?
There has been some discussions about a laptop loan scheme. As we look to expand the project this is something we are considering so please keep an eye on this page.
