In order to use your broadband service you need to have attached to your phone line a small device known as a microfilter. These come in various shapes and sizes but are all relatively small. You will normally get 1 supplied with any equipment relating to broadband we supply to you.

You MUST have a microfilter attached to every phone type device that you have plugged into your phone line. Below are some examples

1. Phone
2. Fax Machine
3. Sky TV Box
4. Alarms

The purpose of the filter is to allow your phone line and the broadband service to be spilt so you can use both at the same time.

Here are two pictures of microfilters you may well use or see. They both do the same job.

 

You can purchase these from any good shop like PC world or Argos or Suffolk Online can supply these for as little as £4 each.

Simply Unplug your phone from the master socket and place the BT type connector into the master socket thats on your microfilter as show in the two pictures above.

After this has been done simply plug your phone into the filter into the section that is maked phone. or has a symbol of a phone.

If you plug to many microfilters into your phone setup or extensions this can cause a problem so as an example if you are using an extension cable then have just one at the end of where modem is. Where in other cases you may need one at the master socket and one by your modem. You will always need one by the modem in order to use the DSL socket on the back.
